What the *techno is GOM?

I was chatting with my friends over coffee and the topic somehow drifted to the common use of text messaging abbreviations when you sms or msg online.

J:   OMG  is very common nowadays… If you are in shock, you should always say “OMG“- (Oh My God!)!

M:   No lar… it’s not so common anymore…

S:   Ya… people now use “GOM” instead!

All:   Huh?! What the heck is “GOM“?

S:   “GOM” you all also dunno meh? Outdated lar you all…

All:   What is “GOM“?

S:   It’s “Goddess of Mercy” lor… hahaha…

Me:   ROFL… ya, ya… now you can even go www.gom.com.sg to pray online…hahaha…

(…and guess how many people would click on the gom site to check if it’s available?! ke ke…)
