Steaming together…吃麻辣火锅!
It has been a long long time since we last eat steamboat. Just feel like eating something soupy n’ spicy recently (the type which left you sweating and gaging “hot…hot…” but still enjoying it…)
We have been to Liang Seah Street many times and always see a couple of 麻辣火锅 (spicy steamboat) eateries along that street. So, Alan and me decided to pick one of them to try out their 麻辣火锅.

The Place
The store looks decent and interior looks cleaner and cosier compared to the first. Furthermore, it is air-conditioned (which alan cannot live without) . The name of the store is called Xian De Lai Shanghai Cuisine (鲜得来上海美食).
The Crowd
It was about 6.45pm on a Wed nite. We were seated immediately. Customer service was good - very attentive, topping soup and ice water automatically whenever they ran out. Customers started to stream in around 7pm. Business was good! I overheard many of the customers coming in telling the staff that they have already made reservation. Then, we realised that they actually have more seats upstairs on the 2nd floor.
The Procedure
First of all, you would be asked to select the type of soup you want - you can select two. So, we eventually settled on one spicy soup and one norm chicken soup. Then, they will give u a checklist menu to tick the food you want. They will serve them to you. No limit no matter how many times you order.
The Food
You would be first served with their specialty spicy ‘gong bao chicken wing’ (chopped chicken wing fried with dried chilli) which tastes delicious! Although spicy but really gooood! Another one of their specialty is the meatballs - fresh and chewy - Yummy!
The chicken soup was tasteless though, but i thought this makes it healthier. On the other hand, the spicy soup was really nice, to my surprise! Real spicy!

The Price
$17.50+++ per pax + $5 soup (ya… they charge extra for soup so don’t hesitate to ask for top-up if you run out of soup)
Overall, I love the customer service, love the soup & food, love the way it was been served and most importantly, they are using an electronic steamboat heater stove instead of the conventional gas stoves! It’s much cleaner and cooler that way….
